OVERVIEW
SMV India Forum began its journey in early 2026 and has been registered as a Not For Profit Entity, for promoting objects of the nature specified under Section 8 of the Act.
The Forum is an initiative of Meher Care Foundation in association with select partners.
Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya is a national icon whose work continues to remain deeply relevant to India’s future. His beliefs and actions in the early part of the 20th century demonstrated that education, engineering, manufacturing, institution-building, scientific thinking and intellectual property creation are essential for employment generation, economic prosperity and national progress.
SMV India Forum seeks to reconnect with the legacy of Sir M. Visvesvaraya and adapt his thought, discipline and methodology to the task of building a strong, self-confident and prosperous India in the 21st century.

Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya was one of India’s greatest engineer-statesmen. His work cut across engineering, infrastructure, education, industry, banking, agriculture, planning and public administration.
While he is widely recognised as an exceptional engineer, his broader contribution lies in the way he linked engineering capability with national development. He believed that a country’s prosperity depended on scientific progress, technical education, industrial strength, disciplined execution and the creation of strong institutions.
His thought is even more relevant today. India’s aspiration to become a developed nation requires a strong engineering and manufacturing base, deeper innovation capability, greater intellectual property creation, skilled human capital, entrepreneurship and long-term institutional thinking.
